Minecraft Spiral Staircase Generator
Fit a spiral stair inside a tower before you start building. Set the footprint, rise, turn rate and direction, then follow one Y layer at a time with relative block coordinates.
Green = current tread. Dim green = previous tread. Gold = next tread. Gray = optional center support core.

How to use the spiral staircase blueprint
- Measure the inside footprint available in your tower and enter that diameter.
- Set the total rise so the last tread reaches the floor or landing you need.
- Choose steps per turn and direction so the staircase exits on the correct side.
- Move the layer slider upward one Y level at a time and place the highlighted tread blocks at the shown relative coordinates.
Headroom check
The calculator compares every tread with the next two Y levels. If the same X/Z cell is reused too soon, the status changes to Review because a full block may intrude into the two-block standing space above the path. A clear result is a useful geometry check, not a guarantee that railings, beams or decoration will also leave enough room.
Why this is useful inside round towers
A tower can have a perfect circular wall and still end up with a staircase that misses the upper doorway by a quarter turn. This planner keeps the footprint, vertical rise and rotation in one shareable setup, so you can align the entrance and exit before collecting materials.
Use the cylinder generator to size the surrounding tower shell, the circle generator to verify the footprint, and the stack calculator to convert the final block count into inventory containers.
Build notes and limitations
The blueprint rounds each radial tread to the Minecraft block grid, so some angles use a different-looking step pattern even when the settings are mathematically even. That is expected in a voxel build. Very small footprints and very gradual turns can create repeated cells; the headroom check highlights those cases instead of pretending every combination is equally walkable.
Frequently asked questions
What size spiral staircase works well in a Minecraft tower?
A 5×5 or 7×7 footprint is a practical starting point for many towers. Larger footprints give more room for a wider tread, railings and decorative detail.
What does steps per turn mean?
It is the number of Y layers used for one full 360-degree rotation. Fewer steps per turn rotate more sharply; more steps per turn make the spiral turn more gradually.
Does this place real stair blocks automatically?
No. The blueprint uses full-block tread positions so placement stays unambiguous. After the structure is aligned, you can replace the walking edge with correctly oriented stairs or slabs.
