How to use the sphere blueprint

  1. Set the outside diameter of the sphere.
  2. Choose Hollow for a shell or Filled for a solid sphere.

  4. Keep the center of every layer aligned to the same vertical axis.

Why layers are easier than a 3D preview

A sphere is a stack of 2D cross-sections. Building one horizontal layer at a time gives you an exact footprint you can copy. The slider shows the current Y layer while the total material count covers the complete generated shape.

Hollow sphere planning

A one-block shell is usually enough for a decorative dome or exterior surface. Thicker shells use more material but can help when you need deep windows, recessed details or interior walls. The block count updates from the same voxel grid used for the displayed layer.

Frequently asked questions

Should I build a Minecraft sphere from the middle or the bottom?

Either works, but checking the widest middle layer first confirms the footprint. During construction, many builders work upward from the bottom while using mirrored layer pairs as a reference.

What is the difference between hollow and filled spheres?

A filled sphere includes every block inside the shape. A hollow sphere keeps only the outer shell, which uses far fewer blocks and leaves interior space.

Why do the top and bottom layers repeat?

A centered sphere is symmetrical. Layers the same distance above and below the midpoint have the same footprint.
